Do you ever think about how many nights Oda might have lost sleep because he was worried about this kid? and how he’d never forgive himself if he needed him but he wasn’t awake to pick up his call? Do you ever think about how oda might have looked at this boy and thought “how can they not see he’s just a kid? How can they see him as a demon? As a monster? All I see is a scared, alone little kid. How can they not see this? How can they not think it’s inhumane to let him live in a literal metal container?” Ever think how he saw the empty eyes of this kid and wanted to take him in? Give him a warm meal? A hug? A real bed? Ever think how he must’ve felt knowing he was his only real friend, and how he must have felt when he was dying in this kids arms, this lonely, sad, messed up kids arms, leaving him behind? How he cared so deeply about this kid that his final words were to plea him to get out of that darkness, to seek light? Ever think about how proud he must be of this kid, now grown, for staying alive and taking in other lost children the way he wanted to take him in? Ever think of that?

Headcanon:

Nami paints everyone's nails for fun, because she knows they won't last a damn long.

Luffy bites his nails; they last a few hours at most. Sometimes he asks Nami to paint them with Ace and Sabo's colors, and those usually last a couple of hours longer.

Sanji is as careful as he can, not wanting to undo Nami's work, but the housework means that some of the color almost always comes off despite his efforts.

Zoro... actually, Zoro's nails last longer than anyone would believe. My bro just sleeps all day and trains, and secretly likes to wear his nails black too. Obviously, he'd only admit it when he's dead.

Usopp is the one who usually has them last the longest. He takes great care of them because he knows he slays with them. Sometimes he does designs himself after Nami applies the flat color coat.

Headcanon that Dust absolutely resents how much he resembles Classic. There are elements of this back in Dusttale, with how Dust prefers to hide his face and identity while building his LV, but this is more out of practicality (and even shame) than anything else. He doesn’t want his victims to recognize him because it’ll make it harder for him to sneak up on people, and a part of him really doesn’t want them to know that he was the one who killed him. The longer this goes on, the more his disguise transforms from a way of hiding his shame to a way of distancing himself from who he used to be. Sans would never kill all those people, but he isn’t Sans anymore. He’s not really a person anymore, he is the act of murder itself. He is Dust.

I think this would get way worse when Dust leaves his AU and enters the multiverse though, because right off the bat he encounters murderers, just like him… who don’t look innocent. Horror, Killer and even Cross are set completely apart from who they used to be. They are scarred and twisted and nightmarish. Looking at them doesn’t trigger memories of a happier, innocent past. They have renamed themselves, taken on a new identity - but for them, this change was physical as well. No one will ever mistake them for Sans.

So Dust wears his hood. He hides his face. He keeps his magic burning constantly, because if he stops his eyes will darken and there will be nothing setting him apart from the monster who died, years ago, the first time a knife ripped through his chest. The others realize it, too… Horror probably wouldn’t care either way. Cross would understand the desire to distance oneself from an old identity, but would ultimately be in a similar boat as Horror. Killer would bring this up to taunt Dust once he realized it bothered him - and would quickly get bored with it. Ultimately, the others would just accept Dust’s refusal to show his face, his hatred of his own voice and reflection, as part of who he is.

I like to imagine that one day, the gang get into a serious combat. It’s vicious and close; both sides are bloody and exhausted by the time it’s over. If one side wins, it’s by a hair, and not much of a victory. In the dazed silence following the battle, Nightmare slowly assesses each of his acolytes, ensuring that they are still alive and intact. When he reaches Dust, he pauses. The assassin is bloodied, slumped over. His HP is steady but low; he’s taken a lot of hits - more than most monsters would have been able to survive. His hand vanishes beneath his hood, carefully inspecting his face. That night, back at the castle, Dust steps in front of a mirror. He takes a deep breath and, for the first time in years, removes his hood to look his reflection in the eye. The combat left deep wounds across his face, injuries that would never heal completely, that would leave him permanently scarred.

Dust looks at his battered reflection and smiles.

I don’t know if I’ll ever actually use this little secret code in my comics but I want you to know that it exists.

For the Cryptid au, Mer language is very much based in music. Songs. Legend has different melodies for all of the Links- songs that exist in their respective games- that function as their names to him. Ravio is called by his theme, Marin is called by the Ballad of the Windfish.

Legend has two names in his own language: one that was given to him by his Pod and one that was given to him by Ravio. The one given by his Pod is a deadname, he’s not allowed to use it anymore since he was banished. Ravio calls him by the “First Search” theme from Link’s Awakening, and that’s what he answers to now.

He also gave Ravio his second name, since poor Rav was too little to remember his first one.

Legend is unfairly good at singing. Poor Ravio’s voice is all scratchy and hoarse- he hasn’t used his native language since he fled his home. He was five years old. He’s very out of practice. Legend gives him vocal lessons until he’s able to hold a proper conversation in Merspeak.

Gerald found family in Maria | Shadow found family in Maria | Stone found family in Ivo | Ivo found family in Gerald

Maria died because of her association with Shadow & Gerald, I mean if she was never put in the care of Gerald she wouldn’t even have been at the base. (Don’t be mad at me for this take pls) -Leading Gerald & Shadow to plot revenge as we know

It is implied; because of the effect Maria’s death, Ivo was neglected by his family to some extent leading to him growing up in an orphanage.

Ivo then had a harsh childhood, leading him to be the man he is; Stone found family in Ivo because of who he his, Stone loves him (I will die on that hill) just being himself

Ivo thought he had found family in Gerald, he thought that biology was the only way to have a family (so smart and doesn’t even know what found family is? 😔) he grew up with the notion that the only people who could love him were his blood family due to his harsh life growing up. Gerald at that point was only bent on vengeance and didn’t even see Ivo as any kind of family.

Gerald did what he did because of Maria - Ivo did what he did because of Gerald (not directly but hear me out) - Stone did what he did because of Ivo - Shadow did what he did because of Maria - and in the end; Ivo did what he did because of Stone - and Shadow did what he did because of Maria a long cycle

Gerald loved Maria, Shadow loved Maria, Stone loved Ivo, Ivo loved Gerald (or thought he did)/Ivo loved Stone

But this family (The Robotnik’s) is a tragic one;

Gerald lost the only person he loved, Shadow lost the only person he loved, his only family, the one person who saw him for who he was | Ivo grew up alone and angry, and was betrayed in the end by Gerald: loosing what shot he had a family (he thought), and died for the family he recognized too late | Stone lost everything, his only family, the person he loved

vergil omorashi headcanons

this is what i spend most of my time thinking about, so this is what im gonna talk about 🤷

this guy 😈😈

this guy has extreme incontinence issues i can feel it (or im projecting, but no one has picked up these traits quite like he does)

first of all yknow how easy it is to just be born with incontinence? you wouldnt notice til a little above potty training age but its so simple to just be genetically predisposed to accidents; and then on top of that he went through insane childhood trauma at the age of like 8, effectively stunting him from growing out of it

his bladder isnt small, or even weak, per se, it just has problems. so hes able to exist for a good portion of his day without any worries, only having to use the bathroom like 3-4 times on an average day, but when that urge kicks in, its usually a good hour or more late, and sometimes thats enough that he simply doesnt have the time to find a bathroom, or do much else but try not to wet himself, of course in complete futility.

and you know how he reacts to all this? by pretending it doesnt exist. he acts like hes got completely normal bathroom habits despite not even being able to properly gauge how bad he has to go until hes way desperate.

he spends enough of his life alone and away from society that it takes quite a while for this to pose any real issues, but that doesnt mean all of his life, and it is one of the first things about him that people who spend an extended amount of time (or just the right wrong 5 minutes) around him learn, and usually the last, as well

he doesnt think about any of it at all during 90% of his day, but beats himself up endlessly from the moment he feels the need to go, until hes either able to resolve it, or it resolves itself. hes got a very firm belief that he needs perfect physical strength, and that includes his bladder capacity, he believes he should be able to hold indefinitely, which is extra hard on him when he can barely hold it for any time at all. for the same reason, hes not very squirmy, having the tendency to lock up as opposed to bouncing around, partially not willing to admit he has to go, and partially not willing to admit that its bad enough to take precedent over literally anything else.

god forbid he has an accident (it happens kinda regularly), he actually does not know how to process it, and becomes incredibly hostile toward any privy parties, though not outwardly violent. mostly he snaps about acting like it never happened, threatening painful death upon anyone who acts differently, and then just goes on to actually acting like it never happened.

quick side note, dante does not have incontinence issues. not to say hes never been caught short, or isnt a little irresponsible when it comes to taking personal breaks, but he has a normally functioning bladder, unlike vergil. as kids dante was incredibly supportive and protective of vergils issues, but upon being separated, he kind of assumes theyd be grown out of and doesnt think about it past childhood memories (which tbh he prob doesnt think abt much anyway)

to say hes shocked to see vergil hasnt seemed to grow out of them at all (despite his efforts to hide it) is an understatement. the first incident, theyd probably be engaged in battle with each other, and dante manages unexpectedly to knock vergil off balance. the fight ends there, as it becomes clear to dante that something is very off, and hes too concerned abt his brother for any dmc plot to drive him to continue fighting. after a short moment dante realizes that vergil is, in fact, in the middle of a complete accident, to which he cant help but laugh, with a teasing remark. this whole event cuts vergil pretty deep, but he ignores it as per usual, and dante brushes it off as well, figuring vergil was simply caught short, with unfortunate timing; but he does reminisce on similar events from their childhood, for the first time since then.

when it happens again, in a situation a little less forgiving than being actively engaged in battle, it starts to turn gears in dantes mind, and it only takes a third time for dante to fully understand the extent of the issue at play. hes no longer nearly as supportive as he used to be, but thats only because he quickly learns that bullheaded stubborness plays a decent part in vergils struggles; and he still is some - because he knows its not all his fault, and hes also still incredibly protective when it comes to prying eyes, or even vergil beating himself up, which he does, a lot.
